Belokurikha is a town and a balneological resort in Altai Krai, Russia, located on the Bolshaya Belokurikha River some 250 km south of Barnaul.

Climate
Belokurikha’s climate is characterized by relatively high for Siberia average annual temperature (+4 Celsius degrees). Mild winter, not very hot summer, warm weather of spring and autumn months, mainly windless, light frost in winter, frequently changing into thaw, permanent atmospheric pressure – such a good climate helps to activate metabolism of ill people and help your body grow stronger.

Mountain air
Light air ions are the main component of mountain air. In Belokurikha light air ion content is 1014 to 2400 that is twice as much as on the world famous Swiss resort Davos (1006). Increased air ionisation especially on the adjoining uplands – terraces – positively influences on general state of patient and create feeling of energizing.

Thermal water
Belokurikha’s springs are called thermal azotic siliceous radon containing waters, or azotic thermae. Thermal waters crop up with temperature of 30 and 42 Celsius degrees. They contains a little bit of radon, a lot of azote, fluor and silicic acid, and various microelements. Also they use medical mud from salt lakes of Altai Krai.

Treatment and recreation
Nowadays Belokurikha resorts are capable to host more than 5 000 guests at a time. There are 19 health centres in the city. Balneotherapeutics include 27 kinds of manipulation using sweet and mineral water. The number of health centres is constantly growing.

Ski resorts
Today Belokurikha resort is one the dynamically developing ski resorts. Due to climate typical for Siberia’s south ski season begins in early December and lasts to the end of March. Mantle of snow is about 1 m of thickness; air temperature during winter fluctuates from -10 to -26 Celsius degrees. They’ve found a new method to increase the snow pack to 2 m and the ski season to 6 months per year - by using ecological and safety systems of artificial snow creation. All pistes are taken care.
