Green Week in Germany

The organisers of the international agricultural fair Green Week expressed hope that this world’s biggest exhibition of agricultural products, food industry and technologies in Berlin will traditionally be held at the highest level, Manager of the Berlin Exhibition Centre Christian Gekke told a news conference on Wednesday.
The exhibition will open late on Thursday, he said.
The opening of the Russian stand will be held on Friday, Gekke said, adding that Russia’s section will be the biggest at the fair. It will occupy 6,000 square metres.
During the fair, 50 agriculture ministers from various countries will gather for an international conference.
The international forums entitled “The Global Food and Agriculture Forum 2010” and “Agriculture and Climatic Changes – New Political and Economic Concepts” will be among other key events of the exhibition.
As many as 1,589 participants from 56 countries will put on display their achievements at 26 stands in the total area of 11,000 square metres. About one-third of the participants are foreign companies and organisations, the rest are German ones.
This year’s number of participants decreased by 11, as compared to 2009, while the number of countries remained unchanged.
At least 400,000 visitors are expected to come to the exhibition this year. A total of 430,000 people visited the fair in 2009.
In 2010, Hungary is the fair’s partner country.
