Eruption continues

A volcano in south-central Iceland continues to erupt under a glacier but fears that it could unleash floods of melted water have so far proved to be unfounded, reports Euronews.
Some 600 people who were evacuated from their homes when the lava first started shooting skywards last weekend have now been allowed to return.
Iceland sits on a volcanic hotspot in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and has relatively frequent eruptions, although most occur in sparsely populated areas and pose little danger to people or property.
Scientists had been monitoring the glacier volcano – dormant since 1821 – for signs of seismic activity but said there had been little warning of the latest eruption.
