Manifestation in Miami

Tens of thousands of people, dressed in white, have taken to the streets of Miami, Florida, in the United States.
Among the demonstrators were many Cuban exiles.
The protest was aimed at showing support for the Cuban dissident group, the “Ladies in White”, made up of the wives and mothers of political prisoners there, informs Euronews.
Singer Gloria Estefan and her music producer husband, Emilio, called the march.
“The “Ladies in White” are women who are doing what many men haven’t done,” one protestor said. “We want to express our solidarity with these women.”
The march comes after the Cuban authorities violently repressed a peaceful protest by the “Ladies in White” days ago, on March 17th.
The group was commemorating the seventh anniversary of the imprisonment of 75 dissidents in Cuba. Fifty-three are still behind bars. One, Orlando Zapata Tamayo, died recently after a hunger strike.
