Aires plane crashes in Columbia

A Boeing 737-700 aircraft operated by Aerovнas de Integraciуn Regional (Aires) has crashed in Columbia following a lightning strike.

One fatality – named locally as 65-year-old Amar Fernandez de Barreto – has been reported, while a further six passengers are believed to be injured.

Up to 125 passengers and six crew were aboard the aircraft when it crashed on landing on the island of San Andres, Colombia.
