BP report attacked by contractors
Contractors cited by BP as partially responsibly for the Deepwater Horizon explosion have reacted angrily to a report outlining the causes of the event from the oil giant.
The ill-fated drilling rig exploded in April this year, claiming 11 lives.
However, contractors singled out by BP have rejected the claims.
Transocean branded the report “self-serving” and accused BP of attempting to “conceal” the real cause of the incident, which it argued was the flawed design of the rig.
Cement contractor Halliburton said the report contained “omissions and inaccuracies”.
A statement said: “Halliburton remains confident that all the work it performed with respect to the Macondo well was completed in accordance with BP’s specifications for its well construction plan and instructions, and that it is fully indemnified under its contract for any of the allegations contained in the report.”
