Hotel room types

When we choose a hotel room we often do not know what must be included in this or that room type and what re the differences, for example, between an Executive Room and a Suite. And touring agencies use our ignorance. It may happen when you arrive in a hotel, and you don’t get the room you desired. It’s time to get acquainted with hotel room types.

booking a suiteAll the rooms differ:

By capacity:

DBL - double, 2-berth room with double bed
TVN - twin, 2-berth room with 2 single beds.
TRPL - triple, a room for three, as a rule it has 3 single beds.
SINGL - single - 1-berth room. Usually it’s a normal 2-berth room, but accommodation is intended for one person. The price is always higher than berth in DBL.

By view from a window:

Sea View. The view can be straight and side - when a building is turned to the sea with its side. So you can see the water only looking sideways or from a balcony. This trick is frequently used by smart agents, who proudly declare of having “all rooms with sea view”. Straight view may cost $10-20 more but it doesn’t mean that you wouldn’t be parted with the sea by a swimming pool, a bar, a disco and other crowded places.

Garden View. You can’t sea the sea out of the window, but it’s compensated by a bosk with singing birds and flagrant flowers. It costs considerably cheaper than sea view room.

Pool View. Rarely stands out as a separate room type. No extra fee.

By level:

Standard Room - the most usual room, the “reference point”. There will be beds and lavatory, surroundings and technical equipment depend on the hotel level

Family Room - 2 rooms (one-and-a-half by their size), each of them has 2 beds (children’s room may have a two-storied one). When booking, specify whether there is a door between the rooms. Otherwise instead of solitude you will see wheezing children’s noses. It costs 30% more than a standard room with two extra beds.

Executive Room - a vast room for businessmen divided in two zones: bedroom and business room. Fax and internet included

Junior Suite - more space than in a Standard room. 2 areas: bedroom and living room, sometimes separated from each other by a decorative trellis or a shelf, sometimes by floor level. The furniture here is better than in standard rooms, and services too: cleaning in these rooms is done in the first place. Junior Suites are met in 5-star and 4-star hotels, with a cost 30% higher than Standard rooms.

Suite - the next step of improved rooms. A spacious 2-room room (though may be separated by false arch), richly furnished, often with two lavatories. Even if there is one lavatory there will be two sinks and bath and shower cabin at the same time. The guests as a rule are greeted with wine and fruits on arrival. 50% more expensive than a usual room in a 5-star hotel.

Deluxe Suite, Excellence Suite - the next Suite step. Two or three rooms, their size allows roller-skating. Jacuzzi in a bathroom is a norm, huge balcony or terrace. 2 times more expensive than a Standard room in a 5-star hotel.

King Suite, Presidential Suite - The highest step of Suites category. Normally includes: a pair of bedrooms, a living room, a pair of lavatories and a study. Free wine and fruits, exclusive furniture. As long as usual people don’t stay in these Suites, there’s also a room for guards. 3 times more expensive than a Standard room

Villa - a separate 3-6 rooms house, 1 or 2-storied, perfect bedrooms and several lavatories. Individual or common for several villas swimming pool. Good 5-star hotels have a separate restaurant for villa guests, clients can drive personal electro-car and sometimes use personal butler services.
Fruits and champagne are brought to a VIP beach each half an hour. Cost of a villa is three times higher than several Standard rooms.
